Capitalism shapes not only global markets and labour relations, but also landscapes, care practices, consumer cultures, and geopolitical strategies. From renewable energy wind parks, the care system of elderly people and the contemporary textile industry to seemingly innocent plush toys, these examples will illustrate how the abstract capitalist system materialises in our surrounding in often unexpected ways.
In the Bachelor module GEO364 „Wirtschaftsgeographien der Globalisierung“, taught during the autumn semester of 2025, students produced video podcasts that critically engage with capitalism, our economy, and the labour market.
