Nature Conservation: Paradigms, Policies and Practices

by Dennis Wild, Eleonora Harbaugh, Flurin Bischoff and Simone Giorzi

In this podcast we discuss our learnings as a group and shed light on very different aspects of nature conservation. We discuss swiss political instruments such as federal laws, different paradigms of conservation, ideas of radical scholars and practices from small and large conservation organisations – from neighbourhood levelt o globally operating NGOs. We present the results from a seminar that was held over the course of a semester. But instead of having a set agenda, we did not know before what we were going to teach and learn to each other. We learned a lot about nature conservation and it’s different facettes but we also gained experience in organising ourselves and teaching. One highlight certainly was our excursion to Höngg where some members of the local organisation NVV Höngg showed us around the neighbourhood and told us about their voluntary conservation work.
